CSC Container Inspections

Certified Shipping Containers

Certified Shipping Containers Ready for International Service

Certified Shipping Containers Ready for International Service

When you purchase a shipping container from Ironclad Containers, we can arrange a CSC (Container Safety Convention) inspection before your container leaves our depot. The inspection is carried out by a qualified independent CSC inspector, providing confidence that your container meets the structural safety requirements for international transport where certification is required.
This service is available exclusively for containers supplied by Ironclad Containers. Whether you are purchasing a new 20 ft shipping container, a new 40 ft shipping container, or one of our used container options, the inspection is arranged before dispatch so the container is ready for its intended use without unnecessary delays.

What is a CSC Inspection

What is a CSC Inspection?

A CSC inspection is a structural safety assessment carried out in accordance with the International Convention for Safe Containers. It confirms that a container is suitable for international container handling and, where applicable, allows a valid CSC approval to be issued or renewed.

The inspection focuses on the container’s primary structural components. These are the areas that matter most when a container is lifted, stacked, moved, and transported. For businesses purchasing containers for export, shipping, logistics, or international service, CSC certification can be an important part of the buying process.

If you are still comparing container options, you can also review our full page for buying shipping containers to see available sizes, styles, and purchase options.

What Is Included in a CSC Container Inspection?

A qualified independent inspector will assess key structural components, including:
  • Corner castings and corner posts
  • Top and bottom rails
  • Front end frame
  • Doors, door frame and locking mechanisms
  • Roof and side panels
  • Underframe and cross members
  • Container floor
  • Existing CSC plate and certification status
  • Overall structural condition
If any defects are identified that prevent certification, these will be reported and, where possible, rectified before the inspection is completed.

When is the Inspection Carried Out?

CSC inspections are arranged before the container leaves our depot. This is important because the container is still under our control, which makes the process easier to coordinate before delivery or collection.

This service is available for:

  • New shipping containers purchased from Ironclad Containers
  • Used shipping containers purchased from Ironclad Containers
  • Containers requiring valid CSC certification before delivery
  • Containers being prepared for export or international transport

We do not provide CSC inspections for containers after they have been delivered. We also do not inspect containers supplied by other companies.

Customers looking at used options can review our used 20 ft shipping containers or used 40 ft shipping containers to find a suitable container before requesting CSC certification.
